The Habibi Kings play what they call Middle Eastern pop. Tuesday night they rocked 54 Below with a type of world music I haven’t heard too much before. Makes me think how much music carries the sound of personal freedom, human longing and peace throughout the world. Rock on Habibi Kings, as they Michael Garin (piano) told me before the set, “If musicians ruled the world there would be no war. We would sleep to the afternoon, get up, eat something and go to play that night, and nothing much else would get done.” LL&P Habibi Kings.
